Message to constituents:

Dear Constituents of Calgary Midnapore,

Canadians have endured a lot over the past year. The cost of living is at a 40-year high and many people in our riding are struggling day-to-day to pay for gas, groceries, and rent. And with the holiday season upon us, I know many are feeling anxious about what gifts they’ll be able to buy, or if they’ll have enough to host a family dinner. But I have to say, it gives me so much pride to see the good people of Calgary Midnapore embrace the holiday spirit despite these troubling times. I am seeing Christmas lights going up across the riding, Community Associations bringing families together to have some fun, and generous neighbours making donations to food banks and other charities. Every day in Parliament, I am fighting for each of you to have the best life possible and it can be discouraging when the government continues to put their needs above yours. But seeing all of you enjoying this season no matter what they throw at us – that gives me so much hope and inspiration. Thank you for making Calgary Midnapore the best place to live!

The last few months have been very difficult and painful for so many. The horrific atrocities committed by the terrorist group Hamas on Israeli citizens on October 7th left us reeling. The fighting that then ensued put more innocent people in the crossfire. Watching this war in horror from afar has been hard enough, but seeing hateful, antisemitic acts unfold on our streets here in Canada is cause for deep concern. Every human life is valuable, and everyone deserves the right to feel safe, regardless of their religious or political beliefs. Hateful and violent acts have no place here. I believe the nation is having a very real conversation about what our shared values truly are. If we want Canada to remain a free, democratic country, then we all have work to do in protecting it. As we recognize every year on November 11th, our freedom came at a cost – we must not squander it. My prayers remain with all families who are hurting or feeling fearful at this time.

There are just a few more weeks of this Parliamentary session before the winter break – and during this time, you will see me pressing the Liberal government for answers regarding the ArriveCAN scandal, their exorbitant spending on external consultants, their lack of transparency, and their inflationary spending. And you can bet I will be relentless when it comes to the imposition of their punitive carbon tax. It is unacceptable to give one part of the country a break on it and not others…and a ‘break’ isn’t good enough. It’s time to axe the tax entirely, and I am proud to work alongside my Leader Pierre Poilievre who has succeeded in sending a very strong message to people across this country and in the government benches across from us in the House of Commons.

Thank you for putting your faith in me as your federal representative. I wish you good health and happiness and look forward to seeing many of you out and about in the riding as I prepare for Christmas with my family.

All my very best,

Stephanie

Next year, for the first time ever, the federal government will spend more on servicing Canada’s debt than on healthcare. Are you concerned by this revelation?
