Dear Constituents of Calgary Midnapore,

I hope you and your loved ones had a happy Easter! I certainly enjoyed spending time with my family, and recharging my batteries as I prepare to return to Ottawa for another busy Parliamentary session.

Conservatives put the debate on the carbon tax front and centre in the House of Commons over the past month, using every tool at our disposal to stop Justin Trudeau’s cruel April 1st tax increase. Whether it was forcing votes at the committee level, using opposition day motions, or even calling for a vote of non-confidence, Conservatives refused to stand idly by while the government pushes yet another tax increase on its citizens who are already suffering greatly due to the cost of living crisis.

Despite the facts that 40% of Canadians want to see the carbon tax abolished and 7/10 provincial Premiers (of various political stripes) have vehemently opposed the April 1st increase, Justin Trudeau has decided to go ahead with it anyway. It shows us what little regard he has for the needs and concerns of Canadians, and the lengths he will go to in order to satisfy his ideological pursuits. I will continue to oppose and fight against the carbon tax.

On April 16, the Liberal government will table Budget 2024. As Shadow Minister for the Treasury Board, I will be keeping a close eye on how the government intends to spend your tax dollars. In the meantime, I will be keeping the pressure on the government regarding ArriveScam as we continue to uncover shady contracts that have cost taxpayers millions of dollars.

WRCA Civic Affairs Night

While I was in Ottawa last week, my team attended the Willow Ridge Community Association’s Civic Affairs Night in my stead – and had a great time chatting with community members from Willow Park and Maple Ridge. My team was pleased to answer questions on a variety of topics; from the carbon tax to housing to tax credits. Thank you to the volunteers at WRCA for creating this opportunity to engage directly with constituents.

I am working on something special for Mother’s Day this year! I’ll be showcasing the wonderful moms across Calgary Midnapore and would love it if you would submit a photo of a mom who lives in the riding. Be sure to tell me what’s unique about her! Read on for more information — and then keep an eye on my social media on Mother’s Day (May 12th) as we celebrate these wonderful women!

Thank you for putting your trust in me as your federal representative — I will continue to work hard on your behalf.

Sincerely,

Stephanie

Last Month’s Survey Question:

Due to excessive and reckless Liberal spending, Canada’s deficit is now over $40 billion and we are $2 TRILLION in debt. Inflation is at an all-time high and interest rates are soaring. Pierre Poilievre says a Conservative government will introduce new legislation that would force the federal government to find a dollar of savings to offset every dollar spent —  a “pay-as-you-go” approach to budgeting.

Do you agree with the Conservative plan to tie every dollar of new spending with a dollar of savings?

This Month’s Survey Question:

Regarding the Liberals’ “Online Harms” Bill, do you believe the government can be trusted to police the internet without censoring opinions that go against their ideology?
