Natural Health Products
This September the Standing Committee on Government Operations and Estimates met to discuss the stifling nature of Canada’s excessive red tape on its productivity and economy.
During this meeting, MP Kusie was able to ask questions pertaining to the government’s new regulations on natural health products. These regulations were hidden in the Budget Implementation Act 2023, which prevented the normal scrutiny that these significant regulations would face.
The testimony from Shawn P. Buckley gave the committee insight in how this government is imposing stringent regulations on the natural health products industry without following the normal legislative process. These regulations will reclassify natural health products as drugs and will severely limit the options and affordability of these products for Canadians across the country.
Bill C-368 is a Conservative bill that seeks to repeal the sections of the budget implementation act to allow natural health products to continue to be accessible for all Canadians and their health. This bill has passed its second reading, and will shortly be reviewed by the Health Committee.
