Message to Constituents:

Dear Constituents of Calgary Midnapore,

Is it just me or are you also shocked by how fast this year has passed by? Whether we’re commuting to and from work, helping kids with their homework, grocery shopping, or shoveling the walkway, it’s no wonder the days seem to fly by. On top of all these everyday tasks, Canadians are spending a lot of their precious free time thinking about how they’re going to stretch their paycheques in order to pay their rent or mortgage and fill up their gas tank – or how they’re going to afford Christmas gifts or a turkey dinner. Sadly, this is the reality for many hardworking people in our riding, and it’s the direct result of nine years of Justin Trudeau’s disastrous policies. My Conservative team and I have been working hard to hold the Liberal-NDP government to account and to bring their failures and corruption to an end.

For about two months, the Liberals have paralyzed Parliament with their refusal to hand over documents related to the Green Slush Fund to the RCMP. The government is so committed to keeping Canadians in the dark about the millions of dollars they’ve funneled into the pockets of their friends and insiders (including Members within Cabinet) that they’ve sacrificed the few remaining days in the 2024 Parliamentary calendar rather than respect the will of the House of Commons.  Until the documents in question are provided to the RCMP, no legislation can pass – nor can any votes of non-confidence be cast. Conservatives will not let the government sweep this massive scandal under the rug. We will continue to push for the government to end the coverup and hand over the evidence to the police.

Other news out of Ottawa:

  • In Mid-November, after considerable pressure from the Conservatives, disgraced Liberal Minister Randy Boissonnault finally resigned from Cabinet over a multi-layered scandal which involved conflicts of interest and faked Indigenous identity claims.
  • Justin Trudeau introduced a new vote-buying scheme in a desperate attempt to change the channel from Mr. Boissonnault’s shameful behaviour and to try to reverse the Liberal Party’s decline in the polls. Our Leader Pierre Poilievre called it out for what it is, a “Two-Month Temporary Tax Trick”. Sadly, in just a few months, Trudeau and the NDP plan to raise taxes on all the same items they claim they’re giving Canadians a break on.
  • It’s no secret that Canada’s Immigration system is broken – and that it’s the Liberals who broke it. Trudeau recently published a video in which he tried to shift the blame. It is too little too late from this Prime Minister, and when questioned about who the “bad actor” is in the House, he didn’t like hearing the truth.
  • I’ve been working hard at Government Operations Committee to ensure your tax dollars are being spent wisely. This past month, we’ve been looking into the government’s purchase of a lavish $9M condo on Billionaire’s Row for Consul General Tom Clark, and questioned Foreign Affairs Minister Melanie Joly as to her involvement. We’ve also been examining Indigenous Procurement processes and discussing postal service in Canada’s rural and remote communities.

Certainly, I am looking forward to returning home to the riding to celebrate Christmas with my family, friends, and constituents! I hope you will join me for my last constituency event of 2024. Please register here.

If you have time before December 21st, I encourage you to sign my e-petition to save the Olympic Plaza bricks. These bricks hold significant sentimental value to thousands of Calgarians and though it seems unlikely that the Mayor will listen, I think it is important to send her a strong message. Please help preserve our Calgarian identity and sign e-5193 here.

Lastly, to help make the season brighter for those in need this Christmas, I’ve launched “Calgary Midnapore Gives” in support of the Calgary Food Bank and Project Warmth Society of Alberta. Please drop by my office in Midnapore sometime between November 25-December 16 (9:00 AM-5:00 PM M-F) to give what you can; whether it’s a non-perishable food item or a gently used winter clothing item. For more details please visit: www.stephaniekusiemp.ca/donation-drive.

I wish you and your families a warm and bright holiday season and look forward to representing you once again in the House of Commons in 2025.

Yours sincerely,

Stephanie
