Prices in Canada continue to go up under Mark Carney’s government, and many of them are automatic, meaning that Parliament does not approve them (cost of postage, alcohol, passports etc.) Does this increasing reliance on ‘escalator’ taxes concern you? Let me know here!

Kusie Update: March 2026

Message to Constituents

Dear Constituents of Calgary Midnapore,

There’s no question that we are living in very interesting and challenging times. There is much going on in the world and in Canada, and I want you to know that fighting for your best interests and ensuring that Calgary Midnapore remains the best place in Canada to live is still my #1 priority. I am here for you and I will never abandon you.

As I outlined in my latest mailer (which you should have recently received at your home), I am deeply disappointed in the Prime Minister’s performance to-date. He has talked a very big game but is yet to deliver on anything truly meaningful for Canadians. He has failed to provide any long-term plan to address the food inflation crisis that his government created; he has not removed any of the tariffs imposed upon us (despite essentially being elected on that promise alone); he hasn’t adequately addressed the housing crisis; the mental health crisis; and he hasn’t done much of anything to get a pipeline built for our great province. (Seeing LNG from Australia being shipped to Eastern Canada absolutely floored me!). What has he done? Flown around the world on your dime, spent the cupboards bare, and told Canadians to sacrifice more. My list of frustrations with the Liberal government is a mile long and I won’t lie – after having such an amazing beacon of hope for change in the last election just to see it fall to pieces was devastating. But as I recently said to members of my community, my determination to protect our riding and way of life is unwavering. Despite this unpredictable political climate, I am ready for whatever may come.

While the Liberals look for more ways to blow your money, I’ve been working hard as the Shadow Minister for the Treasury Board to protect it. I’ve been pushing for transparency by advocating for Bill C-230, and raising the alarm bells regarding the vacant position of the Parliamentary Budget Officer.

My team in the Constituency and Hill offices have also been working hard to help constituents navigate federal services and programs, answer questions, and ensure that I am aware of the concerns that you bring forward. I encourage you to fill out the survey found inside my latest mailer and send it back to me postage-free. Please also participate in my monthly survey question, relative to the vacancy of the Parliamentary Budget Officer (explained in detail below).

I’d also like to bring to your attention a free seminar on Financial Literacy, Debt Solutions and Fraud/Scam Prevention which my Case Manager will be hosting in Kingsland on March 11th. This is a great opportunity to learn how to protect yourself financially and ask any questions you might have about it.

I look forward to spending Easter in the riding. Look out for the blonde lady with bunny ears as she will be popping by some local events with chocolate and prizes! I am also excited to attend the Willow Ridge Civic Affairs Open House being held over Easter weekend.

Thank you for reading my newsletter. I very much appreciate you keeping up to date on the work I am doing for you!

Know that I keep you all in my heart and in my prayers. God bless the good people of Calgary Midnapore!

Sincerely,

Stephanie
