Dear Constituents of Calgary Midnapore,

As we move into February, my colleagues and I should be at our desks in Parliament, addressing the tariff threats, the economic crisis facing Canada, increasing crime on our streets, and the unsustainable debt load the Liberals have created for taxpayers.

However, in classic Trudeau fashion, the Prime Minister once again put his own ego and Party above the needs of Canadians when he prorogued Parliament in early January to avoid the very real chance his government would not survive promised confidence votes in the House of Commons. Rather than allowing Canadians to democratically choose their next Prime Minister in a federal election, Trudeau opted to tender his ‘resignation’ (although he said he would remain PM until early March), and ask the Governor General to hit the pause button on all Parliamentary activities while members of the Liberal Party of Canada select a new leader/Prime Minister.

It remains to be seen whether NDP Leader, Jagmeet Singh, will continue to prop up the government despite his promise in late December to vote against them in a confidence motion in February or March. It is notable that this vote would be after Mr. Singh would qualify for a $2.3M pension…

Despite the fact that 77% of Canadians want an election now, the Liberals and NDP may continue to collaborate to prevent one from happening before the scheduled date of October 20th, 2025. However, when the House of Commons returns on March 24th with a new Prime Minister, Conservatives will be unrelenting in our mission to return the Canadian dream to the people of this country. We will use every tool available to us to ensure the decision of who leads this country is put back into the hands of Canadians.

Until Parliament resumes I will continue my work in the riding; meeting with constituents and stakeholders, attending community events, and working to resolve and/or advance issues with federal services.

Relative to my comments above, I encourage all constituents to weigh in on my monthly survey.

I remain grateful for the trust you have placed in me as your federal representative and wish to assure you that I will continue to advocate for the good people of Calgary Midnapore. You can count on me to hold the Liberal-NDP government to account every step of the way.

Yours sincerely,

Stephanie
