Green Slush Fund
Liberal Corruption Paralyzes Parliament
As part of their ‘green agenda’, the Liberal government created a Crown corporation called Sustainable Development Technology Canada (SDTC). The purpose of this fund was to help Canadian companies develop and deploy sustainable technologies.
In June 2024, questions were raised about the fund when the Auditor General released a damning report stating that SDTC had granted millions of dollars to companies that were actually ineligible for the funding. She also found 186 cases in which SDTC Board of Directors had violated the Conflict of Interest Act by having voted on, or participated in, discussions pertaining to companies that they were personally involved with. The funding total associated with these 186 cases? $390 million taxpayer dollars. The Auditor General made it clear that the blame for this scandal falls on Trudeau’s Industry Minister, Francois-Phillipe Champagne, who “did not sufficiently monitor” contracts given to Liberal insiders.
After the release of the AG’s bombshell report, Conservatives immediately called on the government, the SDTC and the Auditor General to hand over all documents related to what is now known as the “Green Slush Fund” to the RCMP within 14 days. The government refused, thereby ignoring the will of Parliament. This led to a ruling by the Speaker that the House must pause its work until the government hands over the documents they were legally ordered to provide. This means no new business can be brought forward in the House until this matter is resolved.
All debate in the House of Commons (outside of Question Period) has been focused on this Question of Privilege – you can watch Stephanie’s full speech on the matter here:
The Liberals clearly have something to hide, otherwise they would simply hand over the documents to the RCMP and let the investigation be completed. However, Justin Trudeau’s preferred outcome is that the documents in question be studied by the Procedure and House Affairs Committee (PROC) rather than the RCMP, as PROC is a committee chaired by a Liberal MP, who could use delay tactics and in-camera sessions to keep Parliamentarians (and Canadians) from the truth.
The NDP-Liberals must end the coverup and hand over the evidence to the police so Parliament can get back to working for Canadians.
After nine years, the Green Slush Fund Scandal is yet more proof that the NDP-Liberals are not worth the cost, crime, or corruption. Only Common Sense Conservatives will end the corruption and get answers for Canadians.
