King Charles III Coronation Medal Ceremony
On February 27, 2025, MP Stephanie Kusie alongside The Honourable Lois E. Mitchell (Former Lieutenant Governor of Alberta) honoured 21 individuals from Calgary Midnapore who received the prestigious King Charles III Coronation Medal.
The Medal was designed in 2023 by the Canadian Heraldic Authority, approved by His Majesty The King and manufactured by the Royal Canadian Mint. It represents a visible and tangible way to recognize 30,000 outstanding individuals across Canada – of all ages and from all walks of life – who have made a difference in their communities. The Medal highlights themes that both King Charles III and Canadians hold dear, including service and our nation’s diversity.
Beginning with a five-month nomination process in May 2024, MP Kusie challenged residents of Calgary Midnapore to nominate individuals that have helped build the Canada of today. Once this nomination window closed in September 2024, nominations were then delivered to an independent panel of judges for their consideration. This panel included (by order of last name), Cindy Ady, former Alberta Cabinet Minister and MLA for Calgary-Shaw, Dr. Teri Bryant, Chief Firearms Officer for the Government of Alberta, Kim Moody, Founder of Moodys Private Client and Moodys Tax Law, and Donna Reid, President of the Chaparral Community Association.
The twenty-one successful nominees draw from the categories of: Community Service and Philanthropy, Politics, Public Service and Justice, Education, Health Care and Medicine, Social Services and Humanities, and Sports.
