Applications are open for the Terry Fox Humanitarian Award!

In 1977, 18 year-old Terry Fox was diagnosed with bone cancer. To prevent the spread of the disease, his right leg was amputated. Determined to raise funds and awareness for cancer research, Terry convinced the Canadian Cancer Society to sponsor his “Marathon of Hope,” a run across Canada. His courage and strength inspired all Canadians as they watched his 5,373 km journey across Canada — and he continues to inspire us today.

The Terry Fox Humanitarian Award aims to honour Canadian youth who strive to emulate Terry Fox’s courage and determination by providing their communities and those in need with humanitarian service. Those who receive this prestigious award receive financial support throughout their first post-secondary degree.

If you or someone you know has a passion for helping those in need or have demonstrated perseverance and in the face of adversity, like Terry did, I encourage you to apply for this year’s Award.

The application deadline is February 1st, so do not delay! Visit https://terryfoxawards.ca/ to learn more and to apply.
